Sponsor a Monk Project
Many of the monks at Segyu Gaden Phodrang Monastery come from small, rural villages where families are very poor and uneducated. Coming to the monastery provides a unique opportunity for these monks to receive an education in modern subjects in addition to their traditional religious training. When the monks enter the monastery, we take full responsibility for their welfare, their education, and their health. This enables them to focus completely on their studies and to practice the holy Buddha-Dharma.
There are two ways to assist Segyu Gaden Phodrang Monastery in its mission to educate and train monks in the fundamentals of Dharma. One way is to sponsor a monk. By pledging $25 a month (or any amount you can afford), you will help provide the monks with proper nutrition, medical care, and education. The money will go into a general fund to support all the monks, and you will be given a picture and information about your monk friend with whom you can correspond. If he is too young to write to you, the monastery will provide you with updates on his life and progress. The second way is by simply making a one time or occasional donation, and indicating in the comment box that you are donating toward the monks. These donations have been paramount in helping us provide our monks with good physical and spiritual care.
To sponsor, you can simply choose a monk from this page, or we will be happy to choose one for you, or if you have a specific age that you would like to sponsor, we can match you that way as well. Then go to the donate page and set up your payment. In the message box on the PayPay page, let us know which monk you would like to sponsor or if you would like information on more monk options.
Please contact us through our CONTACT page if you need further information about this worthy project.
